LWV Bay Area Biennial Convention

LWV Bay Area Biennial Convention

Saturday, June 6, 2020 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
This business meeting will cover, among other things, the future of the Bay Area Monitor. https://bayareamonitor.org/. Many of you enjoy this high quality publication covering transportation, air quality, water, open space, and land use issues in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, plus the weekly Monitor Notes. According to Editor Alec MacDonald, "We are in no shape to weather the massive financial turmoil wrought by the coronavirus pandemic, and so the Monitor now faces the sobering reality that we are unlikely to make it to the election this November. That is, at least not in our current print form." What can be done to support this valuable 45 year old League publication?

The meeting will also cover Bay Area education and advocacy priorities. The Convention Kit describes all current positions.

Finally, there will be a vote on nominations for the Bay Area Board and Nominating Committee. Thanks to Bonnie Hamlin for chairing the Nominating Committee this year.

LWV Oakland has 5 delegate slots for those who would like to vote on the business issues. Please let me know if you would like to be a voting delegate. Otherwise you are welcome to attend as a non-voting participant.

LWVBA will manage attendance through Eventbrite. If you plan to attend please complete the free Eventbrite registration embedded in the attached flyer or at http://www.lwvbayarea.org. You will receive Zoom information after signing up on Eventbrite.
